- Next story London. 1990. Fans are gathering at a book store in Tottenham Court Road to listen to Nick Cave, in person, reading from his debut book “And the Ass Saw the Angel”. His voice roars, as he stands two feet away from me, moving pages like he was moving mountains, spilling and spitting biblical words like he was chanting long forgotten chants from times before there was language.
